Why are you reading Peterman? Stop that.
Never got into the philosophers, but maybe you should take a break from them for something less stressful. Watch and follow it advice as best you can

I dunno about Lacan and Zizek but reading about ppl who struggled w/ psychosis and were brilliant helps me. I like reading about Cantor and Gödel, especially. Just knowing, "these people were crazy and they didn't feel very connected to reality, but they were real, and they did real things," helps me feel saner and more confident. I have not personally found any psychological theorizing very helpful though, which seems to be what you're looking for.

You’re right, Zizek is funny meme man, whereas the other two are both pseudoscientific psychologists

I didn't read peterman, I just watched his debate with Zizek again and it was very therapeutic. Actually maybe no, it was when I felt like standing on the edge of psychosis.

>>16280008
Lack of sleep is a good way. Mix in some drug use.

I've done dxm a few times, but I guess you must really need to wack your brain out with chemicals for any lasting effect. Not actually interested I don't want to become a zombie.

The only drugs that actually work in inducing psychosis are things like amphetamines. I mean sure you could take a ridiculous dose of basically anything and it will leave your mind wonky, but if you use something that makes you stay up for weeks you'll have a psychosis for sure.

Interesting, I have sleeping troubles but I've never experienced it. I sometimes get the sensation that things are watching me, or general weird paranoia/spaced out feeling when sleep deprived, or when I'm anxious whispers but I've never experienced full blown seeing shit. I can't imagine what that's like.

I think the trick is to not sleep at all. I think as soon as you get like 2-3 hours a sleep per night your odds of developing psychotic symptoms go down significantly, but I'm no mental health expert.

No, that's not true

>>16281787
When you are awake for 48 hours plus, you'll experience what it's a bit like to undergo psychosis or schizophrenia.

>> No.16283259

I'm reading paradoxes of delusion by Louis Sass. Lots of understanding of how someone with psychosis thinks.
Also a Philosophy of Madness: The Experience of Psychotic Thinking by Wouter Kusters comes out this december which will probably be worth a read.
