How long can you read without getting distracted? How do I improve my attention span? Will Nofap and a dopamine detox do?

>> No.16269203

Including breaks I can read from dawn till dusk. Without a break it is something like 4 hours before I feel the need to stretch my legs and have a piss.

At 16 you also have nothing else to worry about and do. Not impressive.

Tfw you wasted those years on the internet, being sad and terrified of everything because of anxiety and depression. Why live?

No that‘s only impressive once your brain would actually have something else to worry about and your force it to worry about useless books instead.

Sorry I kinda forget that not everyone here is my age. Guess my best advice would be just turn off screens and phone and stuff when you sit down to read. And read stuff you genuinely enjoy not just stuff you're "supposed" to like

Yeah blame smartphones for that. Drop internet pornography right now: you are beating your meat watching another man having sex with a girl you won't ever see in real life. Pornography is one of the most toxic psyop in today's world and I hate how it is "normalized", you can see it everywhere and pornstar are pop culture icons instead of degenerates. Nofap is good, give it a try. The thing that made me drop pornography is that I think is a psyop by you know who that weakens young men's minds and body. Drop you cock and grab a dumbell and lift some.

Welcome anon, start with the greeks. Also don't forget to visit /lit/ wikia. Anime is a medium that delievers sometimes good messages (for example NGE) but the majority of anime is just kiddy cartoon. I'm glad you decided to grow up.

WTF War and Peace in one day? That shit's like 1600 pages.

Idk about you guys but a book like that would take me a week at least, taking it slow and reading like max 200 pages a day in 4hrs sessions or so.

The goal should be more in understanding the text and getting into the zone of reading rather than speeding up your rate of reading. By better understanding, patience, and focus, you will automatically start reading more efficiently.

skimming through pages without stopping and reflecting about each chapter is hardly "reading". There is no inherent value in reaching the last page if you learned nothing from them

reading tolstoy at 16 is not really for learning much from it. you have to reread it after 25 anyway

Depends on the book. I generally read in twenty-thirty page increments for denser work before my mind wanders, whereas for genre fiction I can just read and read until the book is done.

>> No.16269500

>>16269388
It is most likely that the person in question just skimmed the book, and didn't get anything out of the process, except a pastime for a day and the ability to be smug "I read W&P in a day when I was 16"
