Will there ever be another work of written art like the Iliad? It's been more than 3000 years, yet there are still things in the Iliad that have not been surpassed, either in poetry or in prose. The Iliad is so great that, even though our culture is vastly different than the culture Homer lived in, and the culture of which Homer writes, we can still be touched and moved by scenes in the poem, like when Hector sees his infant son, or when Priam comes to beg at the feet of Achilles.
