Caroll is better than most and at least more attuned to some of the philosophical considerations that go into a physicist's work, but it's popular science, that's what you signed up for. Reified abstractions that distill complex mathematical models into some easily digestible physical analogy. That being said, everett's relative state formulation is totally legit and not actually a multiverse. It's a universal wavefunction with many branches, like a tree.

That is not an accurate description of MWI or of Carroll's interpretation of QM.

Once I did math based physics as well as proof based math classes I cannot read popsci/popmath books anymore because it is pointless trying to """""understand""""" this stuff without knowing the math behind it

The MWI is a way to get rid of collapse of the wave function.
Everything in QM is linear but the collapse. The MWI says there is no collapse and Schrodinger's equation is satisfied by every output. Schrodinger's equation is deterministic, collapse is non deterministic. So MWI also says that because every possibility is satisfied, the multiverse is also deterministic as well.
It's sort of ad hoc desu but there is legitimate argument for it as an interpretation of what the wave function means. It is not pop sci.

If you want to read about multiverse theory go David Deutsch. In his book The Fabric of Reality he presents a legitimate argument for its existence that isn't just handwaving.

I literally had that theory when I was 10. Keep up, OP.
