I'm 13 chapters in and it's done nothing but point out the the southern cause as a pointless war encouraged by braindead, arrogant aristocrats and how all stuff about states rights was just empty slogans and propaganda invented by elites even higher than. There is also an aristocrat lady thats so sheltered and helpless her male house slave has to run most of the household and her affairs for her. The male lead actively despise the most of the southerners he works for with few exceptions. It also goes out of its way to show how ridiculous the social customs of the south were, especially for women. Did southerns not get it was bashing their heritage and telling them to move the fuck on?

Funny enough according to the book most couldn't. They put one of the major characters head of regiment mostly because he was the only one who knew how to read.

Bit off topic, but does anyone know any good Confederate non-fiction books?

Slavery might be a little funny, ok?
