What kind are you?
For me, it's basically dynamic quadrupod, except my thumb lies flat against the pen pointing down along side it.

Lateral tripod is the proper way to hold a utensil to write in a Latin alphabet, but the pick is holding the utensil at too steep of an angle, and isn't raising the writing surface.

i have a fucked up retarded way of holding a writing tool that none of my teachers were ever able to get me to correct and it just stuck. my handwriting looks like shit. it's basically a lateral tripod but i jerk my thumb back to press with the absolute tip of the thumb, anything else feels really weird.

i feel okay with the top pad but if any part of the pencil lines up below the my thumbnail im completely unable to write.

i didn't learn how to tie my shoes until i was like 17, i have really fucking weird issues with motorskills, i don't know what because I learn instruments very quickly, type quickly and accurately, just autism i guess, some of my motor skill is retard level and some of it is superior

I have a double jointed thumb, so literally none of those. The teacher in elementary would always bother me about it and tell me I was writing wrong even though what I was writing was legible
Pretty much, my thumb bends backwards pressed against the pen and the rest of the pen is pressed against my index finger as I write
It looks weird but it has always worked for me, besides, everyone does everything with a keyboard now or a touchscreen, so it doesn't really matter
