For beginner writers who want to write their first story, is there anything they should know?

How much content is needed for a short story? Im currently working with 3 themes which are:
>The classic damsel in distress narrative
>Love transcending time and space (basically, being with your waifu)
>Morally ambiguous choices one makes in the name of love. Keeping those choices a secret until the climax where the mc's waifu finds out
Also, is swearing in literature really that bad?

I don't think so. I think an active avoidance of swearing is extremely juvenile. Too much is also juvenile, but adults swear, and cursing has a function.

I have an idea for a big three part epic, but I haven't wrote anything and I want to know if I should first "practice" by writting shorter, more simple tales. Is that a good idea?

yeah. Save the big stuff you've been fermenting since you were 15 for later. Learn to actually write first. Also read more.

This is sort of the answer I was expecting, but good advice nevertheless. Thanks, will do.

Don't even try. The world is divided between the mundane and the transmundane, but the division is not down the middle. For every popular author you know about, there are literal millions of failed ones. Same with every other creative pursuit.

With so many billions of humans running about, you are beyond insignificant. If you've never existed, it wouldn't even make a difference to anyone. Don't bother.

keep ripping off virgil, ovid and shakespeare until you eventually end up with something original, then keep improving on it

Great artists know this and do it anyway.

OP, if you're reading, this sort of nay saying is a trial you will have to negotiate both externally and internally. Just write.
