Lol, the second part is the whole reason he wrote the book. Camus was inspired by James M. Cain's The Postman Always Rings Twice, specifically the part with the preacher visiting Frank Chambers in prison.

I know /lit/ will shit on me for saying it but it supposed to feel boring at times. The protagonist is an existentialist that doesn't think too deep about anything, but the book is describing only deep stuff. Book ments to represent that with describing shit like when he is just watching the sun beams and shadows during his trial
