Goethean science is regarded as a meme but it's actually sort of interesting. It was the basis behind Spengler's 'history as analogy' thing, the living nature. Spengler is also regarded as a meme of course, maybe rightly. The whole thing reminds me vaguely of Husserl though less systematic, idk if he himself said anything about Goethe.

For the few of you here mentioning Atlas Shrugged, is it good? I'm maybe a quarter in and it is fine as a novel, the characters while unlikeable are slight intriguing and I'm not bored at all. However, the philosophical side of it is juvenile. It is so dull and simplistic that I can't believe that this is what the book is famous for. Does it get better? Am I missing something?

Why are women in lit so preoccupied with men? They would have you believe they are outnumbered by these strawman Infinite Jest mansplainers and yet mfa classes around the world are like 9/10 women and gay men. Modern authorship and reading is heavily over-represented by unremarkable women and yet the stereotype persists.

Whats more is that whenever you check out the feed of someone like Jess McHugh, its often they themselves that seem quite taken with Infinite Jest or similar and can't stop bringing it up.

on a semi-related note, fuck I hate this kind of humble-brag, not-so-subtle name drop joke format only women seem to do. It's everywhere in tech/programming twitter too.

>"That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence."
Also I highly doubt that most women would read or being able to understand Goethe or even Hemingway.
The very fact that Nietzsche, Schopenhauer or Esther Vilar not on the list, shows how little she knows about poetry, literature and philosophy.
Also why is she assume that everyone is single and everyone care about what women think.

I don't care about any female opinion if she is on twitter or if she has opinion without justification on books that she hasn't even read.
