So what do you guys think of the Ian Fleming James Bond books?

I personally love them. They're a great easy reader for a lazy weekend day.

I bought one (Dr. No, I think) and never read it because I lost it somewhere.

You don't have to build-in conditions like "easy reader" or "weekend day". Like what you like, and feel awesome about it. If some pedantic lit snob gives you shit, grab his Tolstoy and throw it in the gutter!

As someone who reads a ton of science fiction and fantasy - I don't think there's anything wrong with being realistic about what you like. There's a ton of sf&f that I fucking love, but I would never claim it was great - it's entertaining, and awesome at it.

There's other sf&f that i DO think is great and i'll defend it at length

I just fucking love James Bond novels.
