I'm male and like Harry Potter. I don't like how it ended or how Rowling constantly tries to shill her retarded politics into the books by making Dumbledore gay or Hermione black, but I think Harry Potter is a good story with solid characters and it is sufficiently deep to promote introspection of some kind. Rowling might not be a Dickens or a Tolkien, and her story may not last another generation but they are still good children and YA books.

Women only like harry potter to „not be like other girls“. They fail to see how that ship has sailed long ago and how it now makes them exactly „one of those girls“. Initially, it was the classic „this guy likes this book so i‘ll pretend i like it too to make him like me better“ idea that brought girls to pretend to like it. Harry potter isn‘t written for women, it is written for boys. No girl would naturally be fascinated by the hero‘s journey because that is not the archetypal feminine struggle. This is why it is even more repulsive for women to like harry potter than it is for men. It is a clear sign that they are either completely out of touch with their femininity or that their whole taste is based on what they think will get them more male sympathy. Usually it is a mix of both.

She wrote it for her son. Women and men can understand each other‘s core struggle but they can not experience it to the same degree. Harry potter is a rather shallow and simple depiction of the hero‘s journey so it is absolutely possible for a woman to come up with that.

Likely due to it's rather excessive popularity. Hence why it's liked by male zoomers as well. However, the whole thing about Rowling over-writing on some of it's themes, likely contributes to this as well.

I think they're fine YA fiction. Her prose is often quite witty for children's literature, and she makes good enough use of foreshadowing that on rereads I've always found things that I've missed.

I'm perfectly fine with Dumbledore being gay, though I wish it were made a bit more explicit in the books. "Hermione being black" was just color-blind casting for the play, which theatres do all the damn time, only Rowling had to try and be clever about it and it ended up backfire.

"color-blind casting for the play, which theatres do all the damn time"

Last year I think, there was a /tv/ thread where they were complaining about American theaters casting Black people in their plays, I think it was a photo of an African-American woman in a Shakespearean play. I think I commented that that was what happens when you teach American and European culture to people of color, many of which are Americans. I think a /tv/ anon thought I was against the teaching of American culture to PoCs when I'm a PoC myself. Besides, receiving an education, especially in American/European culture most likely reduces crime which is what I read in Berman's "Twilight of American Culture."

idk if i can agree with the picture, man. what if they just read them as they came out as a kid, and kept them because it's cool to have a bunch of first edition books of a popular book series on their shelf?

when i first met my girlfriend i was lowkey judging her by some of the books on her shelf, and when i brought it up she was like ''oh yeah, nah, i hated those books, they were just the required reading material i had to get for courses in college.'' for example, she has a copy of A Patriot's History of the United States and A People's History of the United States. she had to read both so she could logically break down and differentiate opposing arguments and sides of perception and whatnot. i too have books in my personal collection that i dislike/disagree with as well, for the same reasons. shit, i even have books i've never read that people would judge me by, but i keep them because they were passed down from grandparents and whatnot.

but i digress. this isn't about the pic in your post. as for zoomers, i can't say, i'm 28. there are cringy af chicks i've met that're in their 30's that gush about Harry Potter. from anecdotal experience it's usually due to sentiment. in much more intense instances, it's the same as people making an identity out of something they like and projecting their self worth in a way upon it, much like people do with sports. for me, the latter is definitely be a red flag. but for others who share the same affliction, they'd be a fitting match.

hopefully this makes sense

Rowling's prescience is uncanny in her descriptions of Voldemort. Just as Voldemort freed all the dark wizards in Azkaban, so too did the Democrats free thousands of rapists, murderers, pedophiles, etc. from prison.

it's like Rowling has a magic crystal ball or something. How did she predict the Democrat's playbook so accurately, and decades before they would act on it?

i'm not sure if she intended the book to be Christian themed, i saw it more as "Osiris-themed" (and Christianity has the Osiris theme built into it, so it kinda amounts to the same thing).
The ancient world was full of variations on the Osiris theme. The sacrificial god that is killed, goes to the underworld, and yet "conquers death" by returning to the world of the living.

Harry is Osiris, is Jesus. He was branded symbolically (and literally) with Death-Sin, and successfully overcomes it by being the willing sacrifice (by allowing Voldemort/Death to kill him), thereby erasing the original Sin/Death and becoming stronger than Voldemort/Death. Harry "mastered Death" after acquiring the Deathly Hallows (wand, cloak, stone).

C.S. Lewis had the same idea in mind when he had Aslan willingly become the sacrificial victim of the White Witch. Tolkien had the same idea when Gandalf "sacrificed" himself to fight the balrog, allowing the others to escape.
Both Aslan and Gandalf returned from the underworld, stronger than before.

I personally like the Harry Potter books, i just can't stand a lot of the fans (primarily the liberal type)
