Why isn't this book more popular here? I thought the characters and dialogue were engrossing and worth reading about.

Is it just that Recognitions is that much better?

JR kind of sucked. I appreciate what Gaddis was trying to do but The Recognitions eclipses this book.

that's disappointing. the recognitions remains one of the most incredible things i've read and i just managed to find a copy of JR the other week. i guess it's worth reading as the only other thing he's written.

Ok. I liked J.R. and certainly don't think it sucked, but I'll read The Recognitions eventually.

JR is a good book in it's own right, just nothing incredible. The Recognitions is one of the greatest books of all time.

JR is his best. The Recognitions, while masterful, doesn't hit the same highs as JR. JR is also funny as fuck.

OP here. Is Recognitions funny at all? The humor in JR kept me going through the narrative structure.
