I think Pavel Tsatsouline's books are better, even if they are very gimmicky, the information in them is stellar.
As for an introduction to barbell/strength training, I think Bill Starr's "The Strongest Shall Survive" is the best book you can get.

It's pretty cool being able to squat 225. Best feeling I've had lifting though was being able to do 3pl8 on dead lift.

Look into Pavel Tsatsouline's kettlebell exercise programs. His "Simple & Sinister", which focusses on bodily conditioning and health, is generally considered his entry-book

Only indirectly interfaced with this via the community on my personal quest for gains and glory. I get the sense that isolation compounds are frowned upon by them, and that "all you need" are the 6 lifts or whatever. That you can fix your back with the squat alone. That you should only do, e.g. a seated row if you're injured. This seems very flawed to me because the squat can be very difficult to keep correct form on if a) you don't have a decent trainer and/or b) you have muscle deficiencies in your hips that will not be fixed by the squat alone but can be easily managed with stretching and other exercises.
To someone who has read this: what are your thoughts? Is the 6-lift bravado in the book, or only in the community (if even there)? Seems like a cult of 6 lifts to me, and if you do hip bridges and lunges you're a bitch, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
