I live in Japan, and I can tell you from firsthand experience that you are completely wrong.
1. The same currents that exist in Western society exist in Japanese society. Just like in Western society, they control the educational system. Unlike in Western society, they have little political power and are forced to share some parts of the cultural sphere with conservatives and reactionaries. If you look into the Japanese experience of the sixties, you will see that it was just as bloody and violent as that decade was in Europe and America. Feminism is not yet as powerful there as it is in the United States, but if the conservatives continue to cede ground to them, the entire country will become their playground.
2. The Sexual Revolution took place in Japan, but, due to the aforementioned factors, was unable to gain hegemony over society. There are parts of society that behave exactly like most of American society, and there are very large parts of it that are completely hostile to such behavior. In other words, the Japanese experience is not identical to that of the West. Those who frequent houses of dissipation swear up and down by the depravity of the average person, but those who do not have a different story to tell.
What I am trying to say here is that social and sexual behavior are governed by the social milieu and its "propaganda," so to speak. The Sexual Revolution was not the first time that sexual norms were loosened in the advanced industrialized states - the rot began long before the 1960s. However, it accomplished a series of aims that had until then remained unfulfilled, such as,
1. The spread of elite liberal sexual norms to an increasingly large swathe of the population.
2. The defeat of the forces of sexual restraint and their expulsion from the public sphere. You will not find a man with power and status on a national level who advocates sexual restraint, just as you will be hard-pressed to find an academic who advocates for such positions. Stephen Baskerville is an exception to the latter.
3. The dissemination of a new narrative of sexuality. According to this narrative, human beings are not only naturally promiscuous and depraved, but these tendencies are also impossible to restrain, whether by law or by custom. All of history was "reimagined" as a struggle between man's natural depravity and his "irrational," "oppressive" customs, with the individual always attaining victory. You see this in this thread, where a number of anons genuinely believe that a small handful of novels and legends that consist almost entirely of unrealistic and exceptional human behavior are representative of the norm of human sexuality. There are few areas in which the novel is taken to represent average behavior, yet somehow this has become one of them. In its most pernicious form, every single piece of evidence to the contrary, including surveys of women themselves, is dismissed as a fabrication.
