16151377 No.16151377 [Reply] [Original]

I'm tired of having my books not published because they are about straight white people. A succesful friend (female) adviced me that I should replace the male leads for female ones, thus writing about lesbian couples, which most modern readers (lesbian feminists) do appreciate and find cute.

I am inclined to accept that idea. However, wouldn't women either label me as a mansplaner (or whatever the word is in America) or as some pervert for writing about young lesbian couples?

I am legitimately curious.

I want to get my message to the public. If it needs to have either lesbians or interracial relationships, I'd go with lesbians.

publish under a penname

>> No.16151434

>>16151426
The thing is I want the prestige of being an author. If I publish under a female penname (or any penname that has nothing to do with me), no one will take my job seriously.

I know I must be sounding pathetic to most of you, but this is really what I want.

Publishing houses usually want someone who can promote the book. They also don't want to take the risk that their author will create a scandal.

Yeah that's definitely why you're not getting published. That's the reason. Publishers literally only care about that one thing.

Why are you asking for permission, you're a pussy bitch and that's why your publication wasn't accepted in the first place. Grow some balls and write what your soul tells you to write.

I've been writing for ten years and I likely wrote more than all of you combined. I already 'wrote my soul' yet no one cared unless my soul contained homossexuality. Most LGBTQ+ lit that I have been studying is far so poor and emboils genres of literature so broad that it is a fertile field to produce something of quality.

You can try. Lesbians have written straight white males characters very well from what I’ve read.

Read a whole book on how SWMs Would write lesbians and they were all bad. Villains or just insane.

It is rather weird of the publishing industry to pretend this is in high demand.

There's an underlying theme to this whole situation, and it's your integrity to yourself. Do you really think pandering to an uncomely crowd and pushing forward political propaganda would make you happy in the future? You do understand that you're asking permission to write a book through selling your identity right, you know like deception? You might as well sew buttons over your eyes for the rest of your life

There is no way you can win. Either you have non-white/non-male characters and get villified for "having the audacity to try to write about the perspective of oppressed peoples" or you write about white, male characters and get criticized for only considering their "narrow" perspective.

You are white, and male, and you are the enemy, and that's it to these "people".

Most published books are about straight white people. If you still can't get published, it's because your story sucks balls. A story that sucks balls but also has lesbians in it, will only have it harder.

If you don't have the empathy and willingness to research how to write people who aren't you, it's pretty hopeless either way. Just self-publish on amazon and find another hobby like being a media "critic" on yt.
