That's not a very gracious nor anthropological view of other people. Personally I've recognized that people may be shitty, and shitty to each other even in extreme ways, but looking at the world we live in today while keeping in mind that we in the West really are faring better than, say the poorest and most war stricken counties in the world, we start to gain some perspective and even a little pride.

I will read anywhere since I use Kindle and the Kindle app on my phone, but I prefer my bed, and sometimes the park. I also tend to get particularly engrossed in what I'm reading when I'm on the bus and approaching my stop lol

The sooner you realize this is a decadent mentality, aside from being a cope, the healthier you’ll be.

I'd rather have a nuanced view of life than be a dry-bone pragmatist. Seems obvious to me.

I've taken to reading in my bed while my gf sleeps soundly next to me. She fell asleep playing fire emblem while I read Borges.

Ive found that even in situations less than desirable as long as you can carry yourself with class and tune your space to be one of dignity it helps, Im a cashier right now and live with what might be one of the most slovenly inconsiderate people alive but Ive found ways to turn the spaces I have control over into ones of refinement. It helps me keep a bit of optimism and comfort knowing that even at rock bottom I can still have the things most important to me

The stacks at my colleges library are pretty comfy. Low ceilings, no one around, good views, smell of books. Rainy days are preferable so foot traffic outside is lower and the sunlight isn’t too harsh.
