>finish my workout at the gym
>come outside and hold the door open for a girl at the shop next door
>in the rush to get to the door quickly she drops her notebooks etc
>she a copy of the plays 'Luther' by John Osbourne, 'Waiting for Godot' by Beckett and 'Fences' by August Wilson
>tell her i love those plays, ask her how she found them
>said they were a little too formulaic for her
>understand what she is saying and suggest some Brecht for a break away from the Stanislavski style of theatre
>she blushes and asks me to tell her more
>give her a run down on the basic themes of Brecht and then say i gotta go
>says she doesn't understand and that maybe we should talk in more depth
>try and explain my points more clearly at a local coffee shop
>she keeps getting me to go over things and steers the convo towards a normal social one, not one about plays
>feel annoyed that she's a bit dense like this and not interested in the plays so i say i need to go
>she asks me if i like going to the theatre and i answer yes
>asks if we can go together on Monday
>say that i don't think she'll truly appreciate it and i don't wanna waste my time
>she seems upset and says she really wants to go
>take her number and name (basically forces it on me) and make my excuses.
>delete her number from my phone asap because i don't want to be associated with such a cretin.

anyways, play general? which is everyone's favourite? i'm partial to Beckett and John Osbourne myself, though i also enjoy some American playwrights too.
pic related it's a play i own a copy of.
what are some notable productions you've seen?

lol tirdy wirdy, poor sausage

I can tell that one's fake because you drink all the time even when you're at home

also

I think for this level of discussion the proper response would be "King Lear is my favorite Shakespeare, I read it senior year."

I know brownie-townie hasn't, but has anyone here read Eugene O'Neill? I really enjoy his later plays, and despite the length of some of them I'd love to see a live production.

>> No.1612746

You're very unlikely to see them live.

>> No.1612750

>>1612746
>despite the length

yeah, I know. Have you seen any of them, though?

More play discussion, I guess. The last play I went to see that wasn't Shakespeare was actually pretty disappointing (the God of Carnage), but fortunately I'm going to see Blood Wedding in a month or so, and that seems like it'll be a lot more interesting. I dunno if I should read it before I go or not.

Also Marat/Sade is great, I read it over the summer and also desperately want to see a production (though I did see the film version, it was alright.)

>> No.1612756

>>1612750
It's more because they're dated. They either need to be classics in the order of Wilde or Shakespeare, or they have to be post 1950s, usually post 1980s. I'd like to see some of the Kitchen Sink work done, but next to nobody will do them.

actually i used firefox because when trying to connect to the site http://mapcrunch.com i get the following message

Google Chrome is having trouble accessing the network.

This may be because your firewall or antivirus software wrongly thinks that Google Chrome is an intruder on your computer and is blocking it from connecting to the Internet.
Here are some suggestions:
Try adding Google Chrome as a permitted programme in your firewall or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted programme, try deleting it from the list of permitted programmes and adding it again.
Error 138 (net::ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED): Unable to access the network.

i have tried doing what it suggests and googling for answers but no luck so far.
so i tried it on firefox and replied to this thread however as i do not usually post on firefox i do not have my tripcode saved on it.

use the unbranded version (chromium).

also the devs are fucking ridiculous. they remove a flash plugin from the unbranded version because google made their own and then they dont put it in the unbranded version. really pathetic.

you could also try using Opera, all the javascripts work on it but not the chrome extensions, but the js is all i use for 4chan really except for auto-noko.

bump
i'm gonna start reading some more plays, probably some more sophocles

>> No.1613399

this is my final bump

one memorable performance i saw was of 'waiting for godot' by beckett, it was in a traditional stage space and was actually great, performed by two comedians who had a life long friendship.

it's definately one best performed in prisons and other environments like that.

probably my favourite ever play would be
Harold Pinter - The Homecoming
there's a decent movie adaptation but i'd suggest reading the play first!
