so far I've read:
The Castle
Flowers for Algernon
The Maltese Falcon
Les Miserables
Johnny Got His Gun

and I'm just starting to read Heart of Darkness

anyone got some recommendations on new literature that's got similar taste to those?

only shit I've read that's been written in the past decade is stuff by Tim Dorsey

I'd try: more Kafka, look at his stories
For something like Les Miserables, The Count of Monte Christo
For Johnny Got His Gun: Slaughterhouse 5, or maybe Catch-22
For Maltese Falcon: The Big Sleep

I've read Catch-22, just not recently

and I've seen The Big Sleep already, and got a few of the raymond chandler novels, like I said I'd like to see if there was anything newer since I'm not really a frequent library card user or bookstore patron

WHEN I FIRST STARTED GETTING INTO LITERATURE MID-YEAR (2010), I THOUGHT THAT THERE WOULD BE SO MANY WORKS OUT THERE THAT I KNEW I'D ENJOY THAT I'D NEVER GET AROUND TO THEM ALL, SO I DECIDED TO TRY TO LIMIT MYSELF TO WHAT I KNOW I'D APPRECIATE AND ENJOY.
