Alright folks, because I took too many classes this year... my work piled up. I only have one night to write this essay. I haven't read much of Leaves of Grass yet, so I have no idea what to make my thesis about..

The professor says that the thesis needs to be multifaceted, three small observations that work together to make the central thesis.

So, I know its basically you guys helping me with my homework, but do any of you familiar with the Leaves of Grass have any suggestions that I can make an entire essay out of? I'd rather read the book with the thesis already in mind.

Thanks in advance!

There's an American Experience. I just watched it on Netflix. Too bad its not online play. Good luck wiki-ing your way around it.

I have never studied him in any of my classes, nor do I have a great personal interest, how was I supposed to write a thesis about a piece of work I knew absolutely nothing about?

Hmm, so from the bits I've read I think I may base my thesis around Whitman's view that democracy should permeate all life. Maybe touch on his free verse, his stories of communities coming together, his free use of many dialects of any people, low and high and foreign. A good starting point?

I know next to nothing about him and I'd say that's a good start
