What exactly does free will entail?

One of the things that confuses me about the argument of free will is what would free will actually look like in a real life setting?

For example, if I'm choosing between vanilla or chocolate ice cream, causal determinism says that I will choose vanilla because I like it more, maybe I like it more because I ate it when I was young, I ate it when I young because... etc, etc.

But in the case of free will, if there is no causal condition, the decision would have to be made by outside forces right? Meaning that the choice wouldn't be free.

So what exactly does free will mean and how does it play out in context?

free will is pure snake oil. if true free will existed, i would will my hair to grow back, i would will my height to increase by about 4 inches, i would will my elbow to stop aching all the time, i would will my eyes to work properly without glasses.

Without free will you'd pick chocolate.
