Why aren't more people talking about AI? THIS WILL LITERALLTLY CAUSE A DISRUPTION OF HUMANITY. THIS IS NOT A JOKE; IT IS NOT A PREDICTION; AND IT IS NOT A WARNING. IT IS A FACT. YOU CANNOT CONTROL THE EXPONENTIAL RATE OF GROWTH OF THIS THING.

It's one of those things that I will believe it when I see it, just like the Corona virus

>YOU CANNOT CONTROL THE EXPONENTIAL RATE OF GROWTH OF THIS THING.
We actually can, current AI cannot reproduce and improve without human beings.

I'm totally open to your thesis, but I've never seen a chatbot that was worth even half a shit. Where are all these AI programs that have the language-comprehension skills of a human? They don't exist.

AI is the ultimate pleb filter. I am talking abotu afilter way greater than filtering the retards who care about society, like the female teachers taught them in public school to be a good boy for liking the Humanist dogmas.

Nonononono. Way bigger filter than this. Ai is the filter for ALL rationalists. Literally all the subhumans can be pegged as utter retards. This is because rationalists think that the execution of a bunch of rules by an engine is intelligence.
THis is what a postmodernist society does on your cumbrain. You literally believe that intelligence is facade. You like a monkey in front of a Coca-Cola Coke dispenser who sees it as being served by living thing.
You are one cunt hair way to be a woman who thinks that machines should have rights in the democracy.

AI hype is wildly overblown by parties with a financial stake in its success, or people who plan to monetize it down the road. Similar to electric cars though, the promises are far ahead of the technology itself & the real results are generally underwhelming (remember Tay?). Silicon valley loves promising the Next Big Thing then underdelivering because the Thing is just some shit a wealthy executive cooked up out of the blue, with only enough detailed planning to convince investors to throw money at them (which isn't hard).

I remember being in awe of the idea of natural language processing but after working with various NLP modules/libraries I'm disappointed. It's not what the public thinks it is in its mind's eye

/sci/ here, OP you're retarded.
>>16103073
Completely correct.
There is absolutely 0 evidence that we're any closer to achieving general AI than we were 100 years ago.

unironically there are quite good linguistic models but AI doesn't tend to make use of them presumably because it's too complicated or there's not enough of a disciplinary crossover.

machine translation could be a lot better for instance but the available translators are outdated and poorly designed from the beginning. tech companies suck at making things.

idk what about your brain you retard? it's not a computer nor is it a bunch of rules executed.

well we evolved didn't we? Unless God came down and did something sneaky we are just bits of DNA making copies of itself in more complicated ways.

Gentlemen. Imagine a cluster of points in n dimensions. The n dimensions are the aspects or, technical term, features, of your dataset. An AI is nothing more than an algorithm that clusters those points based on certain criteria, determined by the programmer, and then drawing decision buondaries between those clusters of points. Thus, we have our model. Then the model merely takes in data, the aforementioned features, and compares them against the model to determine how to calssify any given new point. That's it. That;s the entire basis of AI. It's an algorithm for drawing lines in between clusters of points.

It could question those rules, I suppose. That's where self-awareness comes from.
