Not even Orwell's best book.

Lies. Lies lies from tiny eyes.

>> No.1608550

I love that cover - the way the antisex league are dressed like whores is so cool, and BB appears to be Ming the Merciless. And then a LEATHER GIMP appears.

Awesome.

Best book ever? Who knows. Best Sci-fi ever? Probably.

No. Brave New World is more accurate to how the enslavement of our species is going to occur--overload of stimulus so we don't know what to pay attention to, e.g. Internet, TV, video games.

But 1984 is by far the superior novel, in terms of craft as well as in terms of story.

Why does everyone bring this up, but no one ever mentions the completely totalitarian government and biologically engineered social strata?

Surely those were much more powerful forces in BNW than the feelies and the liberal sexual views.

That's a good point, I did neglect to mention that. And also the whole idea of Progress being the most important thing ever, so much so that we name our years after Henry Ford, equating him with Jesus in the future points very much toward the world we're going to today. And yes, biological engineering is already a reality, if not a widespread one. Good points.

i wish i loved in BNW world, at least id get laid

Read his essays.
Very nice writing.
The craft in action.

>> No.1608608

the scary thing about about BNW is that they engineer humans to be less than human on purpose, they rob them off the spark to question.
In 1984 big brother cant get inside your head, unless not until they already suspect of you, in BNW big brother is not even needed since you are made not to question

>> No.1608651

i had this same argument with a girl the other day, she kept saying 1984s "future" was worse because of the torture, oh well at least she reads, that makes her more culted than 89% of the girls her age

Best book ever... ever

Am i the only one that thinks brave new world is a good thing if it happens to our world?

>> No.1608670

One of the single most overrated works I've ever read.

Umad?

>> No.1608677

is there something like 1984 but with corporations taking over instead of a military kind government?

>> No.1608686

Well I don't blindly agree with their ideals, but that government was actually rather tolerant. All free thinkers had the chance to move to iceland, or another similar island, should they so choose. No room 101 for anyone.
