I really love literature, and writing and reading, but I also can't understand why people would expect to be paid a huge salary to study books. Not to say there is no merit in doing so I just find the concept bizarre. You study books for the love of it, some people love books so much they devote their lives or careers to doing it, but you do not study books for the money.
