how do i tell if i want to get into Hinduism, Buddhism or High Church christianity?

i got here through psychedelics and lots of reading, so far, Hinduism, Zen Buddhism and Taoism align closest with my beliefs

i dont believe in reincarnation or the supernatural

ive been rereading the Bhagavad Gita and reading Siva Puranam and they really do feel like the most "Enlightened" scriptures i've read so far, as well as the Dhammapada and Tao Te Ching

also, in your opinion, who is more based, Sri Vishnu or Sri Siva?

i like Shiva more currently, but the Bhagavad Gita is so radiant

also, can anyone recommend me more reading on these subjects as well as more texts pertaining to Lord Shiva?
i went ahead and bought Dancing With Siva but i dont know if its biased.

Start with Rene Guenon's first book "Introduction to the Study of the Hindu Doctrines". You can find all of Guenon's books as free pdfs here

https://archive.org/details/reneguenon

After you've read 3-5 books of Guenon you should start reading Evola too, both are interesting but it makes more sense to get a feel for Guenon before getting into Evola

I wouldn't say that life is infinite and death is finite, but that both are finite states in an infinite cycle. That's, of course, only if you assume there is no God, or there's a deistic God, or something like that. I'm a Christian now, so I don't believe in reincarnation anymore, but I did when I was an atheist

OP, read this book. Google Sri Ramana Maharshi. It is hard to call him a teacher, but I think many people would. I have read a lot of spiritual texts, and Sri Ramana Maharshi's comes across to me as the most legit spiritual figure in the past 100 years. He does not follow a lineage. His main focus was non-duality and identifying the self. Read this book it may be all you need. Youtube Sri Ramana Maharshi, some good videos. David Godman does a lot of scholarship around Ramana Maharshi and does Ramana Maharshi justice by not shilling him out.

Anyways, he is the only spiritual teacher I have come across that seems reasonable. His practices can coexist with science. I think it has the possibility to actually open people up to exploring into science and life for themselves. Good luck with your research! Make sure to do your own research and if you end up hating Sri Ramana Maharshi, please post about it here. Would love to read it.

This appeals only to secular humanists who like to view themselves has having a scientific mind, and yet who never have done any science.

Also, if scientist agree with him, it means he has wrong view.

that's pretty easy

Mahayana was made up in order to get hedonistis to feel like enlightened buddhists, just like hinduism. Mahayana is just Hinduism with Brahma replaced by emptiness.

They are both wrong, so NPCs really like them. Especially the post menopausal white women.
Buddhism is hated by those people since householders cant go far in this system.

Christiniaty is just the same coping mechanism has hinduism, they confuse meditation with enlightenment.

Looks like it is the blue pill for you.

Think of this this way. If things like Boltzmann brains are possible, so could reincarnation. With infinite chances for you to reincarnated, and an infinite number of chances, there's no reason why it couldn't happen eventually. This is similar to Nietzsche's idea of Eternal Return. Eternal oblivion sounds at least as implausible as reincarnation or other forms of afterlife.

>> No.16059614

>>16059542

I'm not sure that his practice intersects with secular humanism or necessitates that one must believe or not believe in "the supernatural." I bring up this point because OP clearly pointed out that he doesn't believe in the supernatural.

I don't think scientists would agree or disagree with him, Sri Ramana Maharshi, or have a reason to make such judgement

Speaking of reincarnation, is accruing millions and millions of years worth of karmatic favor a requirement only in the case of being a Buddha specifically, or is it necessary for everyone to reach enlightenment? There's a legend that says a previous form of Siddhartha Gautama laid down his coat for a man that had reached nibbana but could not explain how he did it to others (there is a term for this that I forgot), and it was this act that brought him the good karma leading to his becoming the Buddha later on. I think the idea only applies to becoming a buddha but I want to be sure

Vaishnava is a little bit more dual (vishistadvatia), and more suited for the householder who practices desire-less action and bhakti (loving devotion to the divine)

Shaivism is mostly nondual (influenced by advaita, tho some sects take the dual path like the vaishnava). It focuses more on meditation practices and tantra, and so it has a higher number of renunciators. It can still be practiced by a householder tho.

Study their texts and traditions and choose the best for you.

I used to be a sinner like you but 2 years ago I found GOD. In my teens I would laugh at creationists; I would always tell my grandma that I didn’t want to go to mass; I was agnostic but not like r/Atheism. But when I GREW UP & became a man, I realised I needed to put childish things away (1 Corinthians 13:11). Why is that? Because I realized that we need Christianity to SAVE THE WEST. After I voted Trump in the 2016 election I decided to go to church again. I knew that I would find a QT pure Christian GF who I could lose my virginity to (I haven’t lost it yet because I’m saving myself for marriage, like God intended). I haven’t found her yet, but like Job I'll pray & have faith in God. Then I saw Jordan Peterson talking about Christianity & I was hooked! (I don’t like him anymore though, he’s a fake Christian). I watched all his videos on the bible & realised how God reveals himself in many ways. I was on /pol/ (came from r/The_Donald during the election but I hate redditors now) Christian General & I saw /lit/ chart which had The Bible & I KNEW I found my people. Every day I see THE WEST falling because we gave up our FAITH. Well, the new Christian intellectuals are coming; We're the sons of the Crusaders & we shall not recoil before the sons of Voltaire! (Candide was shit, so is Nietzsche (haven’t read either of them)). Terrence Malick introduced me to Kierkegaard & I became a KNIGHT OF FAITH, so now I know that I just gotta believe & that’s TRUE bravery. I read DANTE & DOSTOEVSKY & saw the beauty of God, true art. I’m a proud Catholic (Protestants are heretics) but I hate Pope Francis, he’s a heretic & isn’t MY Pope. /g/ is a Christian board, & I know that if I just keep recommending the Bible, telling people to go to church, & making threads about how great God & Christ Pratt are, I'll finally be able to sincerely believe in God & distract myself from the gnawing feeling that I’m a fraud. Faith ain’t easy.
