This is a great technique for the con men that run both sides because if you let people define themselves by what they are not, all people hate something and attach it to "the other." It's harsh but it is something to consider, it always devolves into /pol/ autism regardless of the thread's original intents so a straight up ban on the topic as a whole might be a suitable final solution.
