Let's settle this once and for all. What is his masterpiece, The Recognitions or JR?

No masterpieces. He was a nobody

I've only read JR, but I really have a hard time imagining that The Recognitions would top it.

If you have such a high opinion of JR, why don't you read some of his other books?

Typical zoomer behavior.

All 4 of his books are masterpieces.

But if we're choosing favorites:

JR was more memorable. I carry a lot of those scenes around with me. The challenging nature of the text (all dialogue, no descriptive stuff) makes it more rewarding. Also the varied themes of the book couldn't be more relevant today, whereas the deep dive into fraud, painting, Christian pathology isn't as immediately relevant to me. So yeah, JR for sure.

>Bast having a nervous breakdown in front of the school tv talking about how Mozart called everything shit
>the whole damn first part with Co(h)en becoming more and more exhausted by the two aunts pretending to talk circles around the matter of Edward’s claim
>anything to do with Gibbs when he’s talking to someone (when he’s alone you genuinely feel bad for the guy)
Goddamn this guy makes me laugh like a maniac.
