Ahem, the economy, politics and social life are constantly evolving (that was even built into Marx's thinking: see historical materialism, for instance), so it makes sense for theory to need to evolve as well.

What's ridiculous is thinking that theories that were written up hundreds of years ago would always stand the test of time without needing to be adjusted to fit changes in human circumstances. No political theory/ideology should be treated like a religion. That's why libertarians sound so crazy, because their ideas are static and borderline tautological.
