Are dog owners or cat owners better philosophers?

>> No.15986035

Owning a dog for sport or for home security is fine, or even treating one as a companion. But many people use the gregarious nature of canines to baby them, treating them as surrogate children which is really cringe and depraved behavior. Many women also have sex with them

I know Schopenhauer and Lovecraft (not a philospher, but good writer) had cats.

I can't think of a single good writer known to own a dog.

The Prophet (PBUH) preferred cats. He once cut a sleeve off his robe so that he would not disturb the cat sleeping on it.

Agreed, as an animal lover I find this coddling pets as if they were human children to be extremely cringe, and I place a great deal of blame on the fact that westerners in general have stopped having children and thus resort to these neotany-featured pets as surrogate children.

I don't see the problem with this, faggot. I don't want actual human kids. I want pets that I treat as family though. I have cats, which I consider integral parts of my family, but when they pass away, I want a dog and parrot too. I don't want anymore pets after that. Calling them pets is wrongs by the way. I refer to them as my children.

Dog owners, obviously. Cat owners are either women or faggots, both aren't good in anything.

No, the great philosopher, the forerunner of modern physics, evolutionary theory and psychology. Why do you people have to magnify slightest faults while completely dismissing all merits? At any rate, the picture is from about 4 years ago, not that far back.

Literally.

Einstein had a portrait of Schopenhauer on his wall and said this about him:
>[Schopenhauer is] continual consolation in the face of life's hardships, my own and others', and an unfailing wellspring of tolerance.
>I do not believe in free will. Schopenhauer's words: 'Man can do what he wants, but he cannot will what he wills,' accompany me in all situations throughout my life and reconcile me with the actions of others, even if they are rather painful to me. This awareness of the lack of free will keeps me from taking myself and my fellow men too seriously as acting and deciding individuals, and from losing my temper.

As for Darwin:
>With respect to the opposite form of selection, namely of the more attractive men by the women, although in civilised nations women have free or almost free choice, which is not the case with barbarous races, yet their choice is largely influenced by the social position and wealth of the men; and the success of the latter in life depends much on their intellectual powers and energy, or on the fruits of these same powers in their forefathers. No excuse is needed for treating this subject in some detail; for, as the German philosopher Schopenhauer remarks, "the final aim of all love intrigues, be they comic or tragic, is really of more importance than all other ends in human life. What it all turns upon is nothing less than the composition of the next generation. . . . It is not the weal or woe of any one individual, but that of the human race to come, which is here at stake."

Have you ever had a cat? I think you can ethically own one as long as you aren't a complete shithead and put effort into keeping them entertained. They are very content with lying in the sun, batting around their toys, chasing each other, getting pet, and stealing bits of tuna. I believe a pampered house cat is more satisfied than any human could ever be.
