I had to restart it because I didn't pay attention to Mason's relationships with the Peach Family in the beginning of the book. I assumed to was just another instance of Pynchon putting in random characters, and was completely lost by the first third of the novel since they turned out to actually be important

I just finished Lot 49. Will Gravity's Rainbow give me the same unsatisfactory feeling that that book did? Because I'm fine with that when it's less than 200 pages but I don't want to read a massive tome and just be left with psychological blue balls
