No they wouldn't, because most humans are fucking retarded faggots who would only be drawn into even deeper faggotry by reading a philosopher who was boring as fuck and is probably responsible for every manner of whiteknight faggotry because he wrote about his faggot 'forms' that then made countless generations of people believe that there was such a thing as an absolute, independently existed 'good' or 'evil' and I'm telling you that's the kind of shit that makes life around humans so fucking awful and makes me want to somehow destroy humanity

This may make me sound like a doomer, but the rise of smartphones makes me very worried for the idea of having kids. Seeing shit like tiktok make society even more retarded by lowering their attention spand to be unable to focus on anything besides short videos.

In my secondary school (Europe), Greek and Latin are one of 5 majors you can pick throughout your secondary school career, the others being Human Science, Pure Science and Economics. Every Greek and Latin student reads Platonic dialogues (for Greek student this is in his own particular version of Attic Greek and is a staple on the exams; for Latin students in latin translations; for Human Science this is in translation (my case Dutch/ Flemish). So a good portion of students will have had their healthy dose of Plato in secondary school, and trust me when I say this, it doesn't change much, even with the most passionate and competent teachers. HS kids are HS kids and many will just opt for the most cost effective way to pass tests and exams without having to engage with the material.

Still, he would rather everyone study philosophy if they could and follow "true wisdom", it's also a moral desire. Just imagine if all these people understood the meaning of self-control and prudence, and appreciating higher things. It would of course be balanced with poetry.

We must attempt to raise the people, and you can do A LOT with good will, no matter intelligence. It is just that most do not have or are raised with heroic virtues, and wouldn't persevere in the slightest to understand. We could however, show them the basic points of his philosophy, and do it as an introduction to the Grecian ideal and so forth, with the simultaneity of physique and psyche in the endeavour. Teach them true ideals, things based up from reality, and that could never be denied even by the dumbest or most immoral teen/child. But we would teach them above all reverence for great men, and these great men. So that they would persevere to read Plato knowing he has a value. And holding themselves in admiration for him knowing that they cannot know what he knew.

Thrasymachus didn't believe in private property rights either. He thinks that stronger forces being unjust and murdering people to take their stuff is acceptable as long as they win, because they are stronger. Governments exist for the stronger people to more efficiently exercise injustice and benefit themselves. Sheep are reared to be sheared and eaten and all. It was Glaucon who changed his argument to be social contract theory where the weak band together to prevent injustice (which benefits the one engaging in injustice the most but hurts everyone else) in order to minimize the amount of bad stuff that strong people can do.
