That one guy who:

>believes a loose collection of bastardized self-help quotations all the way from Marcus Aurelius to Jordan Peterson
>Identifies as a Stoic but doesn't acknowledge that Stoicism was a religion and that he is therefore a religious believer
>Politically identifies with some sort of authoritarian right-leaning aristocratic system laughably divorced from the pragmatics political reality
>"strong men lead to weak times bruh" ditty whipped out at every moment, no real understanding of Vico whatsoever, but a good excuse to tap out of meaningful political engagement because apparently this cycle shows the world is going to shit
>Continually parrots that "shame to grow old without getting ripped" bullshit quote misattributed to Socrates (actually the character of Socrates as written by Xenophon, would be as misleading as identifying Socrates with Plato)
>Somehow thinks this is about going to the gym and lifting weights rather than better integrating with one's Polis through physical activity (and certainly not just "working out")

All of these things are basically just self-serving excuses to retreat from a world that a person has only hatred for in favour of enabling a sort of spiritual-physical onanism that is not found in any of the ancient philosophies but is rather indicative of the upbringing of a disaffected young man raised in consumerist culture and who is simply reproducing it on a deferred level.

>believes a loose collection of bastardized self-help quotations all the way from Marcus Aurelius to Jordan Peterson
If they are of use to him, then there's no harm in that.

>Identifies as a Stoic but doesn't acknowledge that Stoicism was a religion and that he is therefore a religious believer
Then he is not a true stoic. It's like saying you're a Christian without believing in God; this does not make you a Christian, it makes you a "cultural Christian."

>Politically identifies with some sort of authoritarian right-leaning aristocratic system laughably divorced from the pragmatics political reality
That system would be his end goal. Otherwise, he probably believes in pragmatic changes that can be realistically effected. Unless you're a roll of toilet paper, you most likely have some belief or system divorced from reality.

>"strong men lead to weak times bruh" ditty whipped out at every moment, no real understanding of Vico whatsoever, but a good excuse to tap out of meaningful political engagement because apparently this cycle shows the world is going to shit
What is the correct understanding of Vico, then?

>Continually parrots that "shame to grow old without getting ripped" bullshit quote misattributed to Socrates (actually the character of Socrates as written by Xenophon, would be as misleading as identifying Socrates with Plato)
Thanks for the history lesson. Is the quote wrong, or problematic? It's a shame; if you don't believe so, then it's not a shame.

>>Somehow thinks this is about going to the gym and lifting weights rather than better integrating with one's Polis through physical activity (and certainly not just "working out")
Do you mean physical labor in service of your local community? That can be easily done, especially after "going to the gym and lifting weights." Our lives aren't as labor-heavy as the lives of our ancestors, a little supplementation is helpful.

>All of these things are basically just self-serving excuses to retreat from a world
Ideally, you would try to change the world, not retreat from it. I'm not sure what caricature you have in mind when writing this.

> in favour of enabling a sort of spiritual-physical onanism
If you are fruitful, it's more than onanism.

>that is not found in any of the ancient philosophies
Whatever

>s but is rather indicative of the upbringing of a disaffected young man raised in consumerist culture and who is simply reproducing it on a deferred level.
The first part may be true, but what of the "reproducing it on a deferred level?" Explain this

You just annihilated the whole /fit/bro paradigm, well done.

>If they are of use to him, then there's no harm in that.
The harm consists in the way he uses them compared to what he ought to learn from them

>Then he is not a true stoic.
Oh cool, and he's not a true scotsman either I guess

> Unless you're a roll of toilet paper, you most likely have some belief or system divorced from reality.
What does "laughably" divorced mean you dumb cunt

>What is the correct understanding of Vico, then?
Read the New Science. You're a dumb cunt who is antagonizing me for the sake of antagonizing me. Go suck a dick.

>Do you mean physical labor in service of your local community? That can be easily done, especially after "going to the gym and lifting weights." Our lives aren't as labor-heavy as the lives of our ancestors, a little supplementation is helpful.
Missing the point, go suck a dick.

>Ideally, you would try to change the world, not retreat from it. I'm not sure what caricature you have in mind when writing this
I guess that makes you a dumb cunt?

If you aren't it's not

>Whatever
No, not whatever

>The first part may be true, but what of the "reproducing it on a deferred level?" Explain this
No, you're a dumb cunt.

I know exactly how you work and I can do the exact same thing back to you, dumb cunt
