I sense the advent of the nuclear bomb as the real appearance of the Anti-Christ. This one act has afflicted the rest of human history with uncouth sin, that we are still repaying to this very day.
It's all cyclical. It's happened before. Now we just need another ascended master to disintegrate into the abyss of nothing, like Slothrop, taking the sins of humanity with him, cleansing the spiritual petri dish.
