I got Qanon'd. Not that I ever "trusted the plan" but the thought that real life power-politics with a righteous christian twist were happening at this very moment for all to see was enticing. I got filtered by the happening "clock" and moved away from Q towards the philosophy and fringe board. Weird transition now that I think about it.

I wanted to learn how to hex-edit save games for Oblivion on xbox, however, discussion of this on gamefaqs was strictly forbidden. On a separate forum where I read about hexeditting I saw a forum-poster with a gif of Boxxy as his avatar. This promptly led me to discover /b/ and the subsequent loss of my innocence and any chance at leading a normal life.

Literally the exploding yellow van hacker on steroids video. People called me a newfag back then for having found /b/ via a mainstream television news segment but I'm not older than almost everyone else here.

My first encounter with 4chan was a thread on /b/ in 2005. My cousin wanted to introduce me to trolling. I don't recall who you faggots were trolling, but the reckless flinging of text and images was intriguing.

I didn't use this particular chan much until the last several years. AnonIB, weedchan, and infinity were my go-to until either I changed in my outlook, or the site went down.

i was on house arrest and came here to shitpost some poetry, one of my earliest 4chan experiences was smoking meth with some nigger i met at a bar and coming home and shitposting on 4chan, i always thought 4chan was bad but actually it's better than art chat bullshit websites except no girls

Reflecting on my first encounter, it was scarring. I had heard tales of /b/ and was curious to check it out. Promptly greeted by a gif of a woman stomping on a kitten with a high-heel, I left the website and didn't come back for a year or two. At that point I was 12 or 13 and horny, so I went on some of the porn boards, but luckily I ended up mostly sticking to more softcore stuff rather than getting sucked down the rabbit hole.
That was about 10 years ago. Eventually I started browsing real boards, mostly /a/ and /vg/ (only for Dwarf Fortress General) for a time, then that expanded into /a/, /v/, /k/, and /m/. Now I come on here the most, but also go on /a/, /k/, /fit/, and /diy/.

Can you define a "normal" life?

Btw none of us really live normal lives like 99% of our ancestors, we're all weird.

yeah I was in High School scrolling through iFunny and noticed comments saying "you stole this from 4chan". Ended up going here to find the source of these memes, somehow now 10 years later I'm the most right-wing person I know, and I live in a military town that's extremely pro-Trump at that

Around 2012 reddit was seeming more and more faggy and banning my favorite subreddits. Ended up on /pol/ and never looked back. Now every other website or social media feels fake. Fuck social signalling games, I prefer to be around other autists. And yes this is in fact my best prose.

I used to go on /gif/ for gore and porn but ended up coming to /lit/ in about 2016 because a random on facebook said that Camus sucked, since they saw memes of The Stranger on /lit/. I was like, what the fuck is /lit/ and why are you besmirching my favourite writer. They've since become a good friend though for over four years or less now, and I haven't left here since I first visited. This place really helps with me staying interested in my literary studies at university, otherwise I'd be bored shitless by the liberal-feminist-postcolonial bent my university is striving for 24/7.

I believe a friend of mine, one year my elder, initially introduced me to the website through /v/, but I was uninterested. It wasn’t until 8th grade, bored in the car driving up to tour my brother‘s college, on a seven hour drive, that I spent an entire afternoon on /b/, laughing my ass off the entire ride up. Soon the laughter died, and I tried other boards but nothing was quite like that first ride up. My God that was 8 years ago now. All that wasted time...

I was an ugly misshapen youth, and as a consequence I felt that I only deserved the company of other ugly misshapen youths. One of them showed me a gore thread on /b/ and from then on I would frequently visit /b/ and /r9k/. We would try to shock each other with the most horrible gore we could find and went on 4ch while the teachers weren't looking. As I matured into a somewhat normal looking young person I could no longer relate to the angry socially awkward virgins that populated /r9k/. So I switched to lurking reddit(ironic, I know). Reddit's quality gradually declined and after a few years I quit. I still browsed 4chan, but the quality of my old haunts had declined or I had just matured. Clicked on /lit/ on a whim and I'm glad I did. This is the only board I enjoy contributing to, and the quality nosedives so severely on weekends that I don't end up spending too much time here. Shame about the polfaggots and incels, even /r9k/ wasn't so vitriolic towards women back in the day.

kids two grades up showed /b/? now and then back in like 2007 on the school computers, I started being a semi-regular in around 2011 but it wasn't until 2013 that I actually started to post regularly.
