It's hilarious to me how many people trash Alan Watts, there is nothing wrong with him at all except his popularity. As one of the rare breeds on this board that actually reads philosophy I always like to press people on what's the matter with him. They never say anything of substance. I love Alan Watts. He's well read and a great speaker, an excellent supplement to philosophy or any kind of personal development. If it throws you off that badly seeing his quotes plastered across Instagram on cosmic backdrops then you're not really worried about substance anyways

his book on happiness did a lot for me, and I never read self-help type shit. Basically his thesis is that happiness comes from accepting the hand that life deals you, both good and bad. It's the journey, not the destination. Helped me realize I was setting too many unrealistic goals for myself and punishing myself for not reaching them
