I'd give myself MDMA, because after getting ego death I lost most of my anxiety that was induced from always being considered different by my peers and learned how capable the human mind is in transforming the perception of oneself, and in turn, the perception of life entirely.

I am not a vain person, nor uncarring of people's feelings.

I am not social, but that has always been true. It is not owed to the books.

No way MDMA gave you ego death.
You probably mean the feeling of selfless unconditional love it gives you.
Or do you actually know what's commonly called ego death and experienced it via molly?

What basically happened was that I went to a club as a beta loser who had kissed one girl total accidentally before to groping two stranger hot chicks on molly without breaking a sweat... Took them home later, unfortunately didn't score, but just the sheer realization how I had come over my shyness and gained confidence out of nowhere in this altered mental state was a huge game changer. The thing I realized as well was that substances don't change you as a person, but rather are like an opening of a floodgate - a key of some sort to unlocking this different perspective of perception that you can easily get even if you are sober, just need to know how to find that internalized state. I don't do anything anymore as it is a health risk, but I have generally found that me experiences with substances have given me a deeper understanding of mental mechanisms and heightened my senses of empathy.

And that's ignoring something like frying on acid and seeing, in full clarity, melting images and alphabet soup like effects while reading text. It's no surprise to me people can start believing in alternate realities while clearly seeing images like that.

I wonder how much of an experience can a book, coupled with your imagination, give compared.
