I mean, you intentionally get a vasectomy or a woman getting your tubes tied, not you are born infertile or made infertile by something outside of your control. The whole institution of marriage is literally about the proper bearing and raising up of children. If you don't want them, don't get married.
Also, 2 - 3 weeks usually. Maybe 4-5 if I'm really busy, but it doesn't really take that long to read books like that unless they're math/physics textbooks with exercises or something to make you stay with the program for longer.

I'm halfway through The Technological Society (only ~350 pages) and it's already been over a month. But I've been taking detailed notes and frequently rereading. Is it super dense philosophy that requires an hour to get through a dozen pages? If so it's to be expected that it's taking you months to finish. Are you just never opening the book? If that's the case, it's also quite unsurprising that you haven't finished it yet.

This. Seriously, why rush? You're reading fiction. Also, studies have been done. It benefits information retention and overall comprehension to read more than one book at a time whilst giving yourself time to reflect on what you've read. Myself I read a fiction and non fiction at the same time (in between magazines and newspapers) and I find it works well for me. What's important is how much you're learning and developing intellectually and less how many pages you've read each week. Don't listen to speed readers. It's perfectly possible to do, just as it's possible to download blinkist and get little summaries of books. I wouldn't recommend either (I'm a school teacher).

Lmao this. I've been dragging Moby dicks for 4 years already. I'm around 60% done and I know he starts talking about the fucking killer whale at around 75% of the book.
Meanwhile I've read Kafka on the shore and another murakamis (both of around 1000 pages) in around 3 weeks each.

people bully righteous losers like op because they're angry at themselves for doing nothing about the rampant neglect of children present throughout this broken society. a society which by and large doesn't sterilise profligate morons, forcing the rest of us to pay the price.
War & Peace took me 4 months whilst also polishing off Do Androids Dream & that Oliver Sachs book about the madlads he's encountered.

I read Gravity's Rainbow in a week and Infinite Jest took me bout a month. 5-6 months means you're not reading very much I'm guessing.
