I must admit there is something fascinating about how this man's mind works. I have yet to read a convincing psychological profile of his. In some sense he is the political apotheosis of postmodern hyperreality. Through Twitter or other means he says whatever he feels, utterly disregarding the standards of decorum and august detachment expected of the President. He is the reality TV president, forged in the ludicrous televisual commercial Image world which has so drastically shaped and warped American consciousness. Everything is personal to him, and each day brings a new sensational drama, a new exclamatory impulse. He is the politician as showman, but what interests me more is the psychological rather than the political features of his public persona.

I am reminded of a notorious quote from a Bush administration aide about the self-determining will of American power, d. 'We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors...and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do" He represents a kind of completion of this refusal to submit to a "reality-based community" that has been infecting hubristic American imperialism.

Trump creates his own reality in such a way. In the sense that he doesn't pause at self-contradiction, doesn't wait for the record to catch up with him. He embodies the view that the best defense is a good offense, always putting his opponents on the back foot.

The paradox of Trump is that he is so obviously simple in his rhetorical strategies and approach to life and business, yet its effects are counterintuitive. He follows an almost ameba-like tit-for-tat behavioral policy, be nice to him and he will return the favor, criticize him and he will attack you. There is zero ambiguity to his moral universe, if you can call it that.

His extreme egoism and narcissism is a much remarked upon trait, but what few stop to appreciate is how much that embodies a deeply American vice. He is not so out of line when he behaves like a total asshole, to a red blooded American, there is a clearly recognizable cultural familiarity to it. It's not so out of place. It's just that most presidents hide their arrogance through decorum.

In that sense Trump is more genuine than most politicians, strangely enough. He makes no effort to obscure his power mongering, no attempt to hide behind a fake veneer of respectability, such as his defeated opponents like Hillary Clinton put up.

As much as I feel I've summarized everything there is to what makes Trump tick, I also sense that I've only scratched the surface. That's the paradox.

Stopped reading here. Regardless of your political opinions, everyone knows you're a pseud - go read some more midwit.

>> No.15892642

>>15892597
Of course you can only defy reality for so long, there is only so much space permitted in the "grey area" between truth and fiction in which actions are allowed to operate. And this is all catching up to Trump, as Image confronts Reality in the decisive showdown of consequence. America is in tatters; verging on complete implosion. Trump is the most reviled figure in American political history, and now amount of spin can change that. The interface of the psychological and the political is a question of great importance, but Trump serves as a proof that there is a factual, if pragmatist and imperfect, empirical logic to statecraft. He shows how far you can go to deny objectivity without having to face the music.

No, I stopped reading there because you type like a pseud. I've spoken to many people from many different walks of life and through many different mediums; with this experience, I have deduced that you are a pseud. You use unnecessary technical terms (not in the sense that I don't understand them, but in the sense that they're clearly out of place and meant to inflate your sense of self worth) and put on this sort of "confused with the world" personality, to make yourself seem like some philosopher or scientist just trying to figure out how something works. "Man, Donald Trump is really an enigma! I've been following his psychological profile for some time now, and none of these writers even come close to describing it well! Haha, better go make a post on /lit/ about how much thinking I've been doing about this worthless topic!"
You could have spent your time honing some skill, arguing some important topic in another thread, reading philosophy, literally anything - instead, though, you chose to make a multi-post response here about how you've yet to read a "convincing psychological profile" on Donald Trump, how he's the "political apotheosis of postmodern hyperreality," and how you recall quotes based on this. Stop.

Has he ever expressed any interest in that? He'd have to start his own party from the ground up because there's no chance in hell that the Republicans run anybody with a functioning dick

I know "le whores shoes theory" is all the rage around these parts, but unlike democrats, Republicans will actually run whoever their voter base wants them to run. I don't think I need to point out that Trump wasn't exactly the GOP career politician's first choice compared to literally anyone else who was running in those primaries.

Horseshoe theory has nothing to do with American politics, which are nothing but factional squabbles between neoliberals. Horseshoe theory is the idea that the actual extremes of the left-right spectrum - authoritarian communism and fascism - are the same. There are no extremes to be found anywhere in the Republican or Democratic parties, the only thing the party platforms really disagree on are gays and niggers, and even then not on a foundational level.
The only reason the Republicans let Trump have their ticket is because he embarassed all their other candidates and they knew he'd be too busy tweeting and fucking around with the media to cause any lasting damage. Tucker is less retarded and would attempt to change things, which is anathema to what Republicanism is.

Well yeah. The boomers are gone in two election cycles paired with enough growth from the minority demographics that the nation will be predominantly more left leaning in terms of present day centrists becoming what are now republicans. But, depending on the upcoming generations, as always, you must account for potential cultural attitudes which greatly move the political spectrums in very short periods. Who knows. Politics might not even exist in the future after the balkanization of the US.
