The Big Bang and the slow stabilization of the universe from gasclouds to suns with planets is an example of a lower state leading to a higher state.

The appearance of life and its evolution towards more complex and diverse and more intelligent forms is an example of a lower state moving towards a higher state.

Human history, the slow increase of knowledge and power, the constant return of great republics, aristocracies and monarchies across the ages, again shows a clear evolution from a lower state to a higher state.
