>a 2009 study showed that people who do a lot of media multitasking (texting while watching TV and shit) perform worse on tests when compared to people don't do as much media multitasking

So, all this distraction shit will obviously hamper how your kid grows up, in a formative brain.

How are you going to raise your kid in a technoshit age?

The guy who I'm arguing with doesn't want to believe that constant distraction affects not only how well kids learn but also how their brain absorbs information. Which in this case, is through gadgets and what have you.

My mind wanders every 5 seconds even posting on 4chan.

Right now as I'm typing this I'm already thinking about some stupid shit I have to do and I'm hungry and I haven't fapped since yesterday.

I think it's normal, to an extent, but I think its far far easier to just wile away a whole fucking day just refreshing 4chan than anything else.

from the information op gave us, yeah
and I would say infer because I am assuming op is not a retard and he worded it correctly.
The people who multitask are the people that have their music, facebook, and are texting while they "study". The guy who doesn't multitask is the guy that sits down with a highlighter and flash cards and actually studies. Also notice how op doesn't post any source or link to where he found this information.

>> No.1588307

The more you multitask, the worse you get at it. That goes with any kind of multitasking.

>> No.1588309

My concentration's been fucked for years. I can't even do homework unless I'm almost entirely deprived of outside stimuli. If the TV is on, it's a bust. If there's music on, no go.

My fiancee is exactly the opposite. She can't study unless she's blasting music, watching TV, texting, so on and so forth.

Which is why I never do homework in the house.

There's no such thing as multitasking in humans. The brain just doesn't work that way. You may be frying an egg while talking on the phone and watching at the same time but you're doing is rapidly changing your focus. This has a detrimental effect because over time it lowers your attention span.
