Red scare.
New Deal Liberals were the American equivalent of social democrats who successfully quenched the demand for socialism in America with social programs. https://youtu.be/3EZ5bx9AyI4
Conservatives also insist on calling every social program socialism.

That’s not what “reaction” means in this context, dumbass.

>n political science, a reactionary or reactionist can be defined as a person or entity holding political views that favour a return to a previous political state of society that they believe possessed characteristics that are negatively absent from the contemporary status quo of a society. As an adjective, the word reactionary describes points of view and policies meant to restore a past status quo.

where from? by the definition of reaction in its logical sense a reaction is just the response to an action. so if we take capitalism as the action then....

>NOOOOO you can't just use words in their ordinary dictionary meanings they have to mean what MY special technical vocabulary says they do
capitalism is constantly expanding into new markets and innovating new, more efficient ways to extract value. It is constantly making progress toward the goal of a maximally efficient world embracing market. Thus capitalism is progressive.
Socialists want to stop this historical process in its tracks, thus they are reactionary. QED

You dont need a book for that, I can explain it in two minutes. In the mid 20th century, in the United States of America, the two viable political parties both had a conservative wing and a liberal wing. These dimensions were somewhat ortogonal to a traditional left-right scale exemplified by southern voters happily voting for socialist policies as soon as long as the nigger was put in his place, and so on, while northern industrialists could be for low taxes, against unions, but pro nigger.

At this point there is no difference because the Actually Existing Left-Wing are just a bunch of liberals, which is why they are pro-globalization, pro-idpol, pro-sex work, pro-family destruction, pro-abortion and pro-capitalism.
