Whenever I am reading and stumble upon a word I don't know, I always stop and look it up in the dictionary

me too. this is the correct method for reading properly. youre not going to retain the meaning that the author is trying to convey. all it takes is one word in a sentence to ruin the comprehension of a paragraph, page, chapter, book. youre being lazy if you avoid this
