You know what, yeah make that /phil/ board. You fuckers can keep circlejerking around Infinite Jest and Gravity's Rainbow and Lolita and your meme books in peace (what, you think that will stop when the philosophy people leave?) and maybe the philosophy board won't get 95% only English major-adjacent 'philosophy' due to finally losing association with you guys. I guarantee /lit/ won't actually be improve though after the split. By the way the religion and politics fuckers will still stick around here, so enjoy that.

That's never going to happen. It's literally the most popular board on the site and if they flood other boards, the post quality will drop to the point that jannies will only be able to get rid of (borderline) illegal posts.

No. They'll just shit up other boards even more. They aren't attached to /pol/. They are attached to what /pol/ represents and will gladly make any other board /pol/ to compensate for it's hypothetical deletion.

Newfag. Since the "philosophers" (read: redditors) became popular, genrefag sympathizing has only grown. See the three JK Rowling threads that got more than 200 posts this week.
>>15861587
>By the way the religion and politics fuckers will still stick around here, so enjoy that.
Totally false and you know it. The reddit atheists use lazy philosophy quotes to start shit with the larpers and the worst politifags are the Chapo retards. If Marx discussion was moved to a different board, /lit/ would improve immensely.

>> No.15863855

Like it or not, 8gag is better in the sense that any person can create a board for any topic. At least that way, you can get rid of the most egregious cases of off-topic threads and prevent a wave of shitposts that never end (barring schizos that still post off-topic threads regardless). Plus, the people that find the board in the first place (unless it is an immensely popular topic) are guaranteed to shit up the board since they would be making their experience worse.

>>15862740
They're alright sometimes but most of the time, it's just LARPers or fedora tippers soft bragging instead of actual discussion.

>pretty much every philosophy thread is "Why is it that Marx is so based?" and "Schopenhauer hated women; why don't you?"
How can you say that when there's been so many philosophy threads entirely unrelated to Marx or Schopenhauer? Do you just not engage those? There was a Bertrand Russell thread that got no replies. There's been a Herbart thread. There's a Berkeley thread. There was just a Schelling thread. There was a Fichte thread recently. There is a thread with Paul Churchland's face on reductive vs. eliminative materialism. There's threads on Wittgenstein, Nietzsche, Hegel, Kant, Hume, etc all the time. There's threads on the Frankfurt circle, Foucault, Derrida, existentialism, Heidegger, etc. There's threads on Stoicism, Epicureanism, Plato, Aristotle, etc. There was some Kripke thread not too long ago. There was a Buber thread. The fact you call another anon a 'newfag' but say this stupid bullshit says more about you being new than him. Or at best it shows that you're not actually engaging the philosophy threads, which doesn't give you any right to complain about Marx or Schopenhauer. When the philosophy discussion leaves /lit/ you'll get religion still because the Bible, the Quran, and other scriptures are books, not philosophy. Likewise with the politics, a lot of the shitty rightist politics comes from books which aren't actually philosophically rigorous. At least Marx is philosophy, so maybe you're right and Marx will move to /phil/ but why would you prefer seeing a bunch of threads on alt right garbage instead? Again, says a lot about you. Maybe you're a /pol/ fucker and they need to get out of here too.
