What are some books that talk about how counter-elite groups form or how elite groups will change in their nature either being subverted from an outside group or subverting inside groups? This seems like an interesting phenomenon that I’m especially seeing if it existed before the 20th Century. Rapture, if you’re reading this, I’d love to hear your reccs.

Here are some quotes that inspired this request

> The physicians at medical schools and university-affiliated hospitals have been the elite of American medicine, but reputa tion and power shift as conditions change, and conditions are changing. The medical elite, therefore, faces a future of change and can no longer be committed only to the university type of medical service emphasizing research and the management of acute, episodic disease. The concept of continuing and compre hensive medical care is gaining more and more advocates.

> The medical elite will persist because the future success of these innova tions is apparent to its members, who will adopt what is success ful so that they will continue to be accepted as the medical elite.

Yes, anon. Something about ecology comes to mind. I do remember having a class about it and something about biologists finding a certain hunting community to study and ending up changing their models. I can't remember their names or what is was exactly about.

Or your question is more related to this sense of within the same sphere of knowledge?

It’s open ended! I was most interested in historical examples of how a counter elite has supplanted a previous elite that didn’t necessarily evolve blood and conquest, but would be awesome to hear more about this ecology example you’re talking about!

I think https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollonian_and_Dionysian would be a better fitting. They usually alternate the predominant position.

I deleted my Ecology books when I gave up on my course, are you really curious about that? I can probably find it on the course syllabus.
