I've gotten to the point where "depressing" literature doesn't make me sad anymore, it's a cathartic feeling, I just think "true that, brother."
I have embodied that chapter in Moby-Dick "The Hyena." I know not what is coming, but whatever it is I'll go to it laughing (or some shit like that).
When I read through most of Kafka and Beckett last year I would catch myself laughing and rolling my eyes while reading. Cioran, I like, but he gets repetitive. Haven't read Ligotti.
