i'm not pretentious

my position is justified

fantasy is written on a formula and panders to those who want to have "fun" (which is detestable)

All genres are formulaic to an extent. Hell, most writing shares a common framework. That's not a reason to trash fantasy. The same comments you have made could be applied against (insert random genre here).

You are a dipshit. The whole point of genre is that it provides a framework in which a narrative will unfold. All genres are thereby formulaic.

Perhaps the best example of this is to be found in 16th and early 17th century English revenge drama. The Spanish Tragedy, The Revenger's Tragedy, Hamlet etc. all have their plots determined by their genre, not the other way around.

Tripfags once again justify their reputation for almost divine levels of idiocy.

The fun part is completely meaningless. Why not try to expand on it a little bit? Perhaps you can compare it to the English revenge dramas I mentioned above.
