How do you actually do phenomenology? I read some stuff about it but I just don't get how you can get anywhere with this method.

Does someone have an intuitive explanation for phenomenology?

It depends on how you define phenomenology. Husserl changed his definition of phenomenology at least 3 times.

It's the attemptive replacement for the role psychoanalysis plays as a component of modern clinical psychology. Phenomenology tries to codify the entire processes of pre-clinical psychology, characterized by people such as Freud and Jung, to serve as a kind of springboard from which the more modern statistical analyses of clinical psychology can find interesting ideas to actually test scientifically. It's not really a discipline unto itself and cannot exist on its own.
