It'll help you understand the cultural concept of yurodivy (the holy fool/idiot) and enrich the book.

War with the Newts by Karel Čapek, it's pretty funny so far. I knew it was a critique of Fascism published in the interwar period so it's quite poignant in that its criticisms, which here are shown as parody, are quite accurate. I'll probably finish it now since I'm enjoying it quite a lot.

it's good so far, biologists always seem to have a virtuosity to their writing that errs poetic and makes their books more enjoyable to read artistically as well as intellectually.

I like it, much more so than The Crying Of Lot 49, especially the mix of style.
>Don Quixote
I read part one a few months ago and greatly enjoyed it, part two perhaps even more so, I don't feel i'll have complete perspective on it until I've finished the book, I know that a lot is going over my head because of little knowledge of Spanish culture, so I might watch some lectures on it, the Yale one on youtube looks good.

Pierre; or, the Ambiguities by Melville and it's pretty rough goings so far. I'm excited for the part where Melville loses his ability to write a domestic tragedy and just goes nuts with the narrative style & plot though.

The second half of the 19th century is one of my favorite history topics so I kinda felt like I had to at least know a little bit about the person the era is named after.
