I'm kind of interested in learning more about the only extent pagan religion in the developed world.

It seems that something like it is the key to escaping modernity without falling into barbaristic leftism or nihilistic fascism.

How can we make a western Shintoism?

Shinto is too woven into Japanese culture and cannot be exported, if you want to build a pagan religious movement from the ground up in the west than unless you want some gay wicca new-age movement or something, then it seems your best bet would either be 1) Some sort of Neoplatonic revival, or 2) the importing or further developing of any of the various Hindu Tantric traditions into something which can be widely practiced in the west. The former has the benefits of already being a part of the heritage of western culture and is less 'out there' than Tantric stuff, but the latter has the benefit of actually being an alive tradition with lineages going back many centuries which one can still be initiated into and practice even without being born into the caste system, whereas the Neoplatonic line of initiation seems to have been erased from history.

I know there's Hindu charities that go around crafting religious organizations rooted in Hindu philosophy in SEA (so Muzzies can't genocide them), I don't see why you couldn't do it with Greco-Roman gods and goddesses. Hell, you could do it with Buddhism or Jainism as well (fuck Jainism though).

The problem I have with the Hindu idea though, is that I doubt any organization willing to prosyletize in the West is also willing to ditch the Indian stuff for Greek stuff.

I wasn't implying that they would necessarily have to be combined, the west could go for one or the other. Indians wouldn't have to come proselytize either but it could be westerners who go and study and are initiated in India and then come back and start teaching in the west. This is already going on to a minor extent as there are several dozen Tantric teachers of western origin who have studied in India and who teach classes on Tantra in Europe, Australia the USA, Bali etc.

The Kashmir Shaivism initiatory lineage died out but there are other Shaivism and Shaktist schools which are still active which could become widespread in the west if the right circumstances aligned to make it happen (i.e. the various Nath orders, Lingayatism, Shri Vidya etc)

Not to mention thatbshinto today is by and large not a very “religious” religion. Its more of cultual festivities at this point without contemplation for the beyond, besides maybe a few priests. Kinda like how secular people still celebrate christmas. I mean, they often even have western Christian style wedding solely for the aesthetic. And shintoism was intentionally created as a nationalist movement like the other anon said.

The real religious people i. Japan are usually buhdists.
