I think it can be helpful to look at this as a sexual selection strategy on the part of women. Women are not attracted to feminine, overly emotional men. Why would a woman encourage a man to be feminine/overly emotional?
1. To be able to more easily distinguish sexual value between males. High SMV males will not give into this because they are naturally masculine . Low SMV males think listening to women will improve their SMV (it doesn't) and so by acting feminine eliminate themselves from the pool. In a way, it's a shittest.
2. Women naturally feel inferior to men. Emotionally out of touch women see this as a problem to be fixed (hence feminism). They want everyone else to put them down to their level. It's quite natural and not specific to women. When a crowd sees someone truly exceptional, they tend to secretly wish to see them fall, hurt themselves.
In conclusion, women have all the reasons in the world to encourage this notion of "men traditionally suppress their emotions". It's beneficial to them on all fronts.

There are many many things that could be done but first what's needed is the acknowledgement of a problem. Most normies are in complete denial about the facts. I don't know if I could be able to come up with a good solution, but things that could help alleviate the problem are more slut-shaming, social stigma surrounding online dating and casual relationships, perhaps legalized prostitution, encouragement of chastity (now the complete opposite is being done). A lot of things could be done but first there needs to be an acknowledgement.

I think an appropriate analogy would be global warming. You show people statistics, facts, explain why it's dangerous and why something needs to be done about it. You get answers like "but it snowed yesterday!", "summer is way more fun than winter, get over it and accept it", "the world naturally goes through warming and cooling cycles, what you're saying is nothing new!".
