Chris Morris and Charlie Brooker have some special relationship to the spirit of the world. The face of the creature may change, but the core of it remains the same.

I think what Brooker found were these children of rich boomers that were successful due to being born into affluence, like they always were going to be successful like the little princes they were. Barley, the character he created, started off more like a Made in Chelsea type, very posh, very affluent. Due to having this money they could take power over lackeys who could do their bidding but never have their voice in the culture they created. What I think Morris saw when he joined in on developing the idea was the rise of the capitalist apparatus to encourage and support these people: the rise of the constantly connected smartphone, the lack of a strong cultural backbone with failings in education, the eternal questioning of what is and isn't important in culture and man (in a sense the true arrival of the postmodern condition in the age of technology).

Where we see it now? Some parts of BLM, but also the rise of nationalism and Trump, we see it in booktubers and Kantbot/BAP/MDE and Contrapoints/PhilosophyTube/the other one (I can't remember everything, they're all fucking idiots). /lit/ was once (and still is) special, it has in its wiki a route out of this. You can start with the Greeks, the great light of humanity, and work out of an eternal epistemological quagmire of postirony or whatever the fuck you want to call it, but we also have been inundated by idiots who merely think they are different, but they're all NATHAN FUCKING BARLEYS.
